Alves and Burghead Church of Scotland

Minister: Rev Duncan Shaw

Alves church

welcome

The churches at Alves and Burghead reflect two historic communities - one farming the hinterland, and the other based on an ancient coastal village extended to foster trade and the herring fishing.

The church in use at Alves (1878) is the former Free Church, although the old Parish Church still stands. The present structure of the church at Burghead dates from 1908. In 1982 the united congregation of Alves and Burghead formed, and was linked with Kinloss and Findhorn in 1995 - a union symbolised soon after by the gift of four identical Celtic crosses.

Visitors are always welcome in the Church of Scotland - for a start, visit its website.
